So I read about this idea from a strange little group that I randomly found through a rather roundabout series of connections. The point is, I'm going to try this as an extension to the list of five positive things.

Five good things from the past week:
  1. There were some downtimes in work this week, so I was able to get some email done.
  2. I got to see [livejournal.com profile] shoujo_mallet for lunch a lot more than usual.
  3. I got to see [livejournal.com profile] s00j play music...
  4. ... at [livejournal.com profile] rosefox and [livejournal.com profile] sinboy's place.
  5. I figured out how I've been front-kicking wrong for the past 11 years, which will likely save much wear and tear on my back.
Three things I found challenging:
  1. I swear that this week the callers were really, really dumb.
  2. I got stuck on more 10+ minute long calls than ever (although Delwin got longer calls, I had more long ones).
  3. My back is still not better.
Three things I'm looking forward to next week:
  1. Date with [livejournal.com profile] rosefox
  2. End of March (ergo, payday!)
  3. Maybe getting up the gumption to talk to my boss about what's coming up for me

  1. I (mostly) have my health (hip and back weirdness ignored, as they can be for most things).
  2. I have a girlfriend that loves me and cares for me and I am very compatible with.
  3. I am not, contrary to my own belief, a recluse—I'm going to a party today, so there!
  4. Lunacon is next weekend, and I'm going this year!
  5. And I still have a job that pays reasonably well. Even if it's ridiculously understaffed. Luckily we may actually be hiring another person. May.

What do you do now?

It's simple really... post a picture of yourself in comments. Then, go look at the other pictures and say something positive about each of them, then check back in a while and see new faces. This is also a great way to meet and greet the others on our friends lists.

Sometimes we all just need a little reminder how beautiful we are, and let's face it - we're all beautiful in our own way!

I'll start by posting my own in comments first. Remember, post your photo directly under comments, not in response to another comment.

Okay - GO!!!

We should be taught not to wait for inspiration to start a thing. Action always generates inspiration. Inspiration seldom generates action.

1) I told Erin about something that had been bothering me, and aside from making myself sound like an illogical nincompoop, no damage done.
2) I have found a great new weather resource from our friends at the NOAA: http://www.erh.noaa.gov/okx/gfe/gridded.html
3) I will be getting a new 19" LCD flatpanel. 12 ms response time.
4) I have discovered that I have been thoroughly failing my positivity project. This is good because at least I am recognizing my behavior and identifying it as unacceptable.
5) I am at a better position in my email today than I was at this time last week. Still hovering around two week backlog, though.

Unfortunately, for at least two of these items, I have turned negative things into positive ones. This may be a good outlook, but it takes too much effort

Stop it, you fucking ingrate. Of course you deserve the things you have! You deserve your job, your friends—you are NOT a piece of shit. Fuck you, stop beating yourself up; Mom says (rightly) that there are more than enough people in this world who are more than willing to do that for you. You are the only one responsible for building yourself up—no one else can do it for you if you don't do it.

You have so much going right for you. Stop feeling sorry for yourself, you've done nothing wrong and you certainly don't deserve it, regardless of what your stupid, fatalistic brain thinks. You are stopping yourself from feeling good, and one day it will kill you. Follow your own fucking advice, and just relax and believe in yourself.

The difficulty with this is that I don't really believe it all that well. And that I have a remarkable knack for making mistakes.

Five good things about me or that have been happening to me:
1. I'm excited about going in for Jury Duty on Monday.
2. I'm just finishing up a tasty meal with Erin.
3. Erin just asked faboo to buy her beer in the most amusing way.
4. I feel like I've finally got my shit together.
5. I've finally started to think about The Rest of My Life. And not panic.
