Read this /. article on sex offenders and tracking them with GPS for the rest of their life first.

Let's go over the reasons for imprisionment again:

• Punishment—Simply, "tsk, tsk, don't do that again." Frankly, a bad justification, as we are not three-year-olds.
• Deterrant—Obviously you ain't doin' a good job of deterring people if you cannot trust them to not do it again!
• Reformation—See above

This country really needs to take a long, critical look at its attitudes and policies towards sex, violence, punishment, love, drugs, and everything else. I pray we can get at least one slightly more sane law on the books from it.

Florida's new law could also open the door to the death penalty for more killers, because it allows a defendant's status as a sexual predator to be considered as an aggravating factor during sentencing for a murder.

I think this is one of the scariest things out of the entire article.

KILL EM ALL! The system has to be reworked towards rehabilitation not deterrence or punishment. Though I gotta say from my criminal justice classes, sexual offenders are the most likely ones to revert. Can't say I agree with making sure the offenders are not "where they shouldn't be" but could help locate them if they do do something. Doesn't really matter though we can all be tracked with our phones.

If there was a law that provided castration as a punishment for sex offenders, I'd be all for it. But only for brutal, violent rapists. You don't deserve to live your life fully, most in the case of molesting children, if you've committed that crime. Sure, God'll send 'em down to the pits of hell in the end, but we as people gotta take these repeat offenders and steal their freedom, and maybe knowing that, indefinatly, you will be followed for the rest of your life will keep people from doing it. God is merciful, and so is life (for the most part) but we've proven ourselves too lienient with laws and punishments. You have to pay, even though it's not our job to kill. But as a society, we've fallen away from morals, and rightful punishment. Taxpayers pay $90,000 a year to feed, clothe, and take care of prisoners. This will save us money anyway. Less repeat offenses. I know it may be a violation of human rights--but isn't the little boy out there who got lured away and molested violated too?

And eye of an eye, just one ladies opinion.
