there's a lot of chatter on the naim user list about people having the same problems as us.

This is all still valid, and ongoing. In the past 24 hours I have received 10 new reports of accounts being blocked.
If you have experienced any irregularity in the access to your account, please send me a private mail (<n@ml.org>) listing all affected screen names and the nature of the irregularity. The most typical scenario seems to be:
1. User is logged off unceremoniously; naim reports "Server disconnected". 2. User is unable to log back on; naim reports "Unable to connect to TOC: Invalid username or password." 3. User is able to use the password reset form at http://www.aim.com/ to reset their password once. A random string of numbers is sent to them via email and the user is able to sign back on to AIM using this password. 4. Approximately 10 hours later, user is logged off again; naim again reports "Server disconnected". 5. User is unable to use the password reset form; web site reports AOL is "currenly unable to process your password request".
