There’s definitely a Southern Gothic dysfunctional/abusive family element. But I think it’s mostly about the criticism the Chicks have faced for their political views. I guess that’s what happens when your target audience voted for Bush and you didn’t. Perhaps their next single will be called “Wrath of the Redneck”.
