All good tips that I am aware of. But given my starting point of 4 pushups, I'll be glad for the endurance to be able to build the max load. The way I see it, the hundred pushup program will get me to the point where I can start thinking about increasing the load, which I can't even think about right now.

See, you probably started with the ability to do pushups, and that's why you've not seen any gains in anything other than endurance. In general, I have good endurance with everything but my arms (cardio, legs, etc.).
