A cult is a group of people devoted to beliefs which may contradict the majority of a greater society.

To the entire world, Christianity is a cult.

To Christians, Catholics are a cult.

To Catholics, the Lumen Dei are a cult.

That is, of course, just one intepretation of "cult".
