She went to the Fashion Institute of Technology (http://www.fitnyc.edu) in NYC. No, her major had nothing to do with fashion. The medal was awarded for being a presidential scholar. In fact, if you view the image full size (http://pics.livejournal.com/xoder/pic/0008d8fg), you can almost read that on the medal itself!
