Found in the 23rd St. 8th Ave. station, northbound platform, around 24th St. I hope you can read the text, as it was pretty interesting.

Lately, thanks in part to the end of my school year & Erin's graduation, we've had a little more time to do things. This week we went to a knife skills class & saw 'Foot Fist Way'.

The class was very interesting, and I feel I learned a lot. Like how to cut an onion properly, reducing (but not eliminating) the amount of irritation. And how to cut a bagel without killing yourself. (Show of hands: how many of you thought of BDSM when I said 'Knife Skills'? And how many thought of martial arts?)

The movie was pretty good. I was worried I wouldn't like it as it's one of those awkward comedies that generally make me want to run away in sympathy rather than laugh. But in the end, I thought it was funny and sweet. I was probably one of the only people in the audience that recognised the forms as authentic. This film deserves more audience. Give it :-)

The first thing that popped into my head was a cooking-sort of class, but then I thought "this is Peter, it could be anything!" :-D

Actually, we took Knife Skills 1 at The Institute for Culinary Education (https://web.iceculinary.com/icereg/details.asp?cid=KNIFE1&DT=) down in Chelsea. The instructor was awesome!

I still owe my readers an entry on the Ramblewood resort and the events they held a weekend or two before the folk festival I went to there.

BDSM through cooking? As if a sous-chef is anything but a player in a M/s relationship.

He just published a book on knife skills even (http://www.amazon.com/Mastering-Knife-Skills-Essential-Important/dp/1584796677/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212686041&sr=8-2). It comes with a DVD illustrating all the techniques, but somehow I imagine it lacks the goodly Jewish humor he displayed in class.

My very first thought was that it was just a class for cutting things. I don't know, I guess just general cutting things, possibly with a sideline in taking care of your cutting implement. On further reflection, this makes no sense, because cutting a person for fun, cutting a person for self defense, and cutting bagels probably have very little in common.

Then I thought BDSM.

Then martial arts.

Then I stopped thinking about it for while.

Then, for some reason, I thought about whittling.

I mentioned this to my brother ("Chef Boyardee") and he's intrigued. My mom claims he's deathly afraid of cutting himself, so a class on how to use knives could be beneficial for him.
