"No livejournal post yet?" she says
Jun. 27th, 2002 10:05 pmSo, work.
Lightning closed things early, but I still got paid. Its all good.
Regarding the Pledge of Allegiance debate:
"Under God" is a blatant state endorsement of monotheism. My (and your) First Amendment rights protect us from such.
The original Pledge of Allegiance (written by a minister!) read:
Lets keep it as it was written before.
And in other news,
faboo has pointed out a very disturbing concept in computing today. Hit up his journal and click the link for one of the more recent posts... Fucking SCARY
that is all,
PETER

The original Pledge of Allegiance (written by a minister!) read:
I Pledge AllegianceIt was changed in 1954 to prove to the Knights of Columbus (and other religious and quasi-religous groups) that the United States of America was not a Godless Communisim. I know I loved McCarthyism, didn't you?
To the Flag
of the United States of America
And to the Republic
For which It stands
One Nation
Indivisible
With Liberty and Justice
For All
Lets keep it as it was written before.

Date: 2002-06-28 12:19 am (UTC)From the Democrat & Chronicle:
"Other critics of the decision were flabbergasted and warned that it calls into question the use of "In God We Trust" on the nation's currency, the public singing of patriotic songs like "God Bless America," even the use of the phrase "So help me God" when judges are sworn into office."
Gee, I've been questioning these references for many years. The "under God" line is one reason why I stopped repeating the Pledge a long time ago.
And yes, stupid people are scarry. Stupid people w/ power are even more scary. It's like the whole "region" thing on DVDs. If I move from New York to California, I need two different players for the DVD's bought in two different regions, or I need to buy all my DVDs over again. And they think people pirate stuff just because they want to steal their property when part of it is that people don't wanna deal w/ stupid shit like that.
Again, bad people, NO Biscut!
