EDIT: "Lacuna" means gap, as in a gap in a manuscript, usually caused by the passage of time.

so THAT'S what i keep overusing in my story. wow. a pretty word for something overused. i wonder if they can make masturbation sound better too.

I don't believe that is what you're speaking of. These gaps are caused by the physical degredation of the manuscript, not by playing with the flow of time within the story.
