Olive pants, dark brown shoes (nice and new!), khaki socks. I think the socks are the problem... Would navy or black be better?

My mom is back from the hospital again! Let's hope it sticks this time.

The socks show up white in the photograph. Why not a more brown sock? Or a gray/charcoal color?

Why not? Because I don't have them, silly!

white socks are fine if you cant see them - think not-socks or short ankle socks
If you think socks will be seen, a darker colour is considered more fashionable
Or
If you really wanna be super cool (at least in my eyes) Argyles are the way to go

Fail. You need much darker socks, but neither navy nor black are appropriate here. Brown shoes mean dark brown or tan socks, or as Fae suggest, argyle. Black shoes mean black socks.

That's what I thought. I guess the khaki socks are going to go deep into the drawer, rarely to be used.

I should go and buy some socks at a store so I can see them!

For now, I guess black will have to do...

People with feet like mine do not wear light-colored shoes.

No black or navy! Not a good look. For this pants and shoes combo, go with a dark brown or dark khaki (the khaki you have there is way too light).

Dark and middling grey are two of the most undervalued clothing colors ever, and would certainly work in this situation.
