Question of the Day:
When is it appropriate to apologize for one's own existance? And how does one perform such an act?

[And yes, I do want answers]

when conciously acknowledge that you have become a leech on societies resources. you apologize by spending ttthe rest of your life limiting that drain and seeking ways to atone. (you're not a leech by the way)

Also, there is that whole idea of infinitely affecting the universe by existing and your comlete dissappearance would affect the world in the most drastic of way. SO I guess I can take creedit for the 2nd invasion of Iraq just as I can take creedit for the space program (post '83).

An apology for one's existance is passive aggressive bullshit. I imagine it's something roughly on par with a 16 year old writing poetry like: "Dark knife of my pain plunging into my black heart/ I am alone / No one cares." It's not constructive, and just leaves everyone else uncomfortable.

What *is* acceptable, I think, it taking responsibility for your existance. If you're being an ass, be an ass knowingly. If you're going to just sit and do nothing, be honest and accept that at that moment, you are doing nothing. Spare yourself the qualitiative judgements -- "I'm hurting everyone because I'm bad." Just leave it at, "I am doing this set of things now. I wish to change them."

NEVER! If you exist, in my proto-rabbinical opinion, it means that God personally decided that you should exist. If someone has a problem with that, they should take it directly to God and leave you the hell out of it!
