Woooo! Give it up for melodrama... Um, actually though, emotional independance is usually a good thing. It usually sounds almost bitter when you say it, but in reality, it's something that everyone ought to have. There are times when it's nice to be able to rely on someone, but it's dangerous if you find that you need to rely on someone.

agreed. To keep a relationship (platonic or nonplatonic) healthy and honest, sometimes you need to risk telling the other person things that they might not necessarily want to hear. If you are dependant on them then that level of risk is just not acceptable. Thus, the honesty can't happen.

Dependence is a good thing to avoid in general. Drags ya down.
